Get to the Pointe — pointe shoe fight

Ah, Nutcracker season.... Can you hear the Overture as everyone is giddy on stage? Can you hear the nuts cracking? Can you hear the pointe shoes snapping? Well, Josephine certainly can in this week's video. We return to another fan favorite: Dance Academy. This time, a touch more drama with a Season 2 episode. Tara, Abigail and Grace are in their frenemies era...and Grace is at it again trying to manipulate those around her to get what she wants (friendship? or control? attention?).  And unfortunately, pointe shoes are involved. Actually - pointe shoes were harmed in the making of this...

This one's a long requested reaction! On this episode of 'Pointe Shoe Fitter Reacts,' Josephine watched a piece called Ballet Magnifique.  Lauren Gonzales' choreography for Regional Dance America/Southwest, brings waves of humor and amusement to Jacques Offenbach score. The performance was by dancers of the Collin County Ballet Theater, Honor Company in 2018.  "This is better than Mistake Waltz!" Josephine exclaimed.  Which do you prefer? Ballet Magnifique or Mistake Waltz?   

This week, we're finally fulfilling a fan-favorite - the animated ballet movie, Leap!  In this video, Josephine watched and reacted to the final dance battle scene of this fun and heart touching kids' movie. Ballet doesn't tend to have 'dance battles' like other dance styles do, but if they do, we sure hope they are as thrilling as this movie! Have you watched Leap? Do you like it? This week, we had Josephine watch the 2010 Australian TV series, "Dance Academy."  If you're in the states, you likely found this series on YouTube, in the ballet corner of the internet where we live. Josephine watched snippets of Season 1, Episode 2 "Week Zero," which follows main character, country girl Tara during her first week at the prestigious academy. There's lots of drama of course, between a boy being bullied for being put en pointe, Tara disobeying her ballet teacher, and even, a pointe shoe fight! How will Josephine react? You gotta watch to find out!
