my REAL opinion on the new russian pointe baroque | Pointe Shoe Review

Josephine reviews the Baroque from RP Collection's newest line of pointe shoes, Sea of Pearls!

The Baroque is the sister shoe to RP Collection's previous pointe shoe, Brava. Although the new shoe is almost a replica, there are a few differences!

The Baroque pointe shoes are made on a pre-arched construction, so just like the Brava, there is a slight curve to arch of the pointe shoes.

Although the RP Collection Baroque is made on a slightly tapered last, it still has a pretty broad box. The slight taper gives a nice sleek look, but the platform is very wide a flat, making it quite easy to balance in.

The Baroque has a U-shape throat with an elastic drawstring.

Though the RP Collection Baroque does have a medium crown, the box overall still has quite a bit of volume, so this is a pretty suitable shoe for dancer's with wide or high profile feet.

This pointe shoe comes in three shank strengths: flexible soft, flexible medium, and flexible hard.

The side seam is a medium cut and the heel is slightly higher, giving a pretty line to show off your foot, while still staying secure on your heel. One of the main differences between the Baroque and the old Brava is that on Baroque, the heel is very streamlined. The satin in the Baroque is a little bit more stiff and reinforced so it looks much cleaner and doesn't wrinkle as much.

Something that is really great about the Sea of Pearls collection is that it is made partly out of recycled materials! They names it "Sea of Pearls" because the lining of the pointe shoes is made out of ocean bound plastic!

Currently, the RP Collection Baroque comes in sizes 35-44 and widths 2-6. The Brava used to come in width 1 as well, however Baroque only starts at width 2 at this time.
