Thank you to everyone who has been sending us ballet content to react to!
This week's video features 2 videos that were sent to us.
The first, a former prima ballerina with Alzheimer's who listens to Swan Lake music and core memories are unlocked. It's so beautiful to see how music and muscle memory engage her body and bring her back. To be clear, this video is cut with some dancing of a younger dancer in full swan attire - this is not the older lady in her past.
The latter features a video of Suzelle Poole, a former soloist with Houston Ballet. She was born in 1940, so she's a few years shy of 100 years old. However, it doesn't matter, as she dances the Dying Swan variation en pointe and is gorgeous.
What both of these incredible women show us is that ballet stays with you forever. A lot of us carry trauma with ballet, but there is also so much potential for love and passion with this art. We hope to continue to spread the art and joy of ballet, and show everyone that it belongs to all.
