Demi Pointe Shoes

Demi Pointes / Soft Blocks / Pre-Pointe Shoes

Demi pointes are a transitional shoe for those preparing for full pointe work or returning to pointe after an injury.  They are a globally popular specialized tool in international ballet communities, widely used as a training tool in Europe, Asia, and within the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) training system for certain exam levels.  It is highly recommended to train in demi-pointes for 6 months to 1 year prior to going on pointe.

  • Training Tool: Designed to bridge the gap between flat ballet slippers and pointe shoes by introducing dancers to a structured, harder shoe without a shank.
  • Familiarity & Sensation:  Helps a dancer's foot gradually adapt to the shape and confinement of traditional pointe shoes.
  • Foot Conditioning: Full leather sole and structured box provide resistance to strengthen the ankle, forefoot, and toes for pointe work.
  • Adult Dancers: Popular with adult learners as a way to safely increase foot strength or for those who do not plan to go on full pointe.
  • Injury Recovery:  Often used as a "Recovery Shoe" to gradually re-condition to full pointe work after an injury.
