Who else is obsessing over ice skating in the Olympics? I mean, can we talk about this for a second?
Adelina Sotnikova (called "the other Russian") edged out favorite, Yuna Kim of South Korea for the gold.
If you haven't heard of her, I don't blame you.
While the whole world was talking about the younger, more accomplished Russian star, Yulia Lipnitskaya, Sotnikova quietly came and delivered her country's first women's Olympics singles championship.
So apparently this was a major shocker to a lot of people but long time figure skater (and my BFF), Alicia Leslie says it's all just a numbers game. "I am a strong believer in the point system... you should be counting points and doing things that add up the most points technically... they were all similar but at the end of it, Russia's girl did her part to do the elements that added up to the most points. She may have come out of nowhere but that's what sports is all about!"
In all honesty, I was rooting for Yuna Kim and Gracie Gold (c'mon I'm Korean American) but I just can't resist a good underdog story.
You go, girlfriend. Dust off those doubters and nay-sayers and do yo thang.
Au Revoir xoxo
